Having been a CEO of an established consulting firm and having led startups, John has been there and done it.  He knows first-hand what it takes to make an organization thrive, truly motivate people, make good decisions and overcome challenges, be properly monitored and managed, and get things done every day to achieve superior results.  As a doctoral-level scientist, John brings superior analytical skills.  He has over 30 years of experience in solving problems in technically oriented businesses, either as a leader of these businesses or as a consultant to them.  He brings a unique experience having held leadership positions in a large industrial company, as a CEO of a mid-size professional engineering services firm and of a startup product design firm, as a leader of a contract research laboratory in a leading university, and as the president of a not-for-profit research institute and of a startup for-profit scientific and engineering services organization.  John is also a top-notch project manager and an expert on multi-disciplinary collaborations.  He has organized and managed $26 million in funded projects including multi-million dollar projects and collaborations involving Government labs, large defense companies, leading research universities, and small companies.  John is expert at bridging organizational and geographic barriers, and he has developed truly effective Internet-based tools, using Microsoft Sharepoint, to adapt Procter & Gamble’s “Connect and Develop” strategy as the collaborative operational model of a not-for-profit research institute and to implement and enforce business processes, which has resulted in superior efficiency and effectiveness of a geographically dispersed staff.
